Daily Exercise and Educational Sessions to Empower You
✔️ Jump off the All-Or-Nothing train and commit to a sustainable health journey
You’ve been here before – last year at this time, actually! We invite you to invest in yourself by gaining knowledge that will make you better able to choose a smart path, gain momentum and sustain it throughout the year.
✔️ Marina Wellness Week is not a 1-Week Transformation or Weight Loss Program.
Your instructors will teach you how to craft your own lifestyle in a way that respects your time, your budget and your preference with free options such as community walks and volunteering, traditional dancing, outdoor activity or other paid programs that ensure maximal accountability and support.
✔️ Exercise Sampling Focused on Having Fun & Consistency
Every day, you will get to sample different exercise and mind-body practices such as Yoga, Run/Walk, Strength Training, Hula Dancing, Core Exercises, Stretching & Meditation. Short exercise demos give you a chance to try a new form of exercise and see if you actually enjoy it enough to do it regularly!
✔️ Local Health & Wellness Professionals At Your Service
Monterey Bay Moves Partnered with Blue Zones Project, CSUMB, Disc Golf Jellies and Na Haumana to present a wide variety of exercise and community activity programs. You will be spoiled for choice and feel supported when it comes to making an action plan for 2022.

Put your hand up if you are your own worst critic! Learn about shape and weight overvaluation and how negative self evaluation affects your eating habits.
Experienced dieter with “the slowest metabolism in the world” who puts on 5 lbs just looking at a cookie and Monterey Bay Moves Owner Elizabeth Plante will explain how our “common” standards around weight and shape have created this dualistic and highly moralistic view of human bodies : thin and curvy in the right places for women on one side + lean and strong for men on the other side VS all the other bodies. She will sprinkle her presentation with examples of her own struggles and success with weight loss, injuries, body transformation and acceptance of herself in the present moment.
This workshop aims to:
-
- recognize the short and long term effects of diets, cleanses, detoxes and other disordered eating habits
- help you recognize what shape and weight over valuation is and how it affects your health
- give you tools and practice real life situations to buffer the negative effects of self criticism
- introduce you to the concept of mindful eating
- offer a non judgmental and inclusive discussion around weight and body image

Exercise is about more than doing reps in a gym or eating miles on a running trail. Non exercise specific activity is vital for the human body and mind to thrive, yet we tend to hyperfocus on “fitness” as a narrowly defined concept. Learn about what you do day to day that enhances your health, what you can add to your routine without adding to your schedule or workload and gain a new understanding of movement as an elixir of life.
Professor of Kinesiology at CSUMB, Dr Lisa Leineger is not only a wealth of knowledge about the science behind movement in the human body, but her work extends beyond the classroom. Her involvement with Exercise is Medicine allows her to make a difference on campus and promote activities that improve participants’ health markers, stave off critical illness, reduce stress and bring joy!
Local Disc Golf Club leader Nick Kite will share with you what disc golf is all about, where and how you can play it locally and give you all the information you need to participate with a club.
