A Week of Free Daily Exercise and Educational Sessions to Empower You in 2024

You’ve been here before – last year at this time, actually! We invite you to invest in yourself by gaining knowledge that will make you better able to choose your own path, gain momentum and sustain it throughout the year.
✔️ Marina Wellness Week is not a Transformation or Weight Loss Program.
Instructors and Speakers will give you information on how to take charge of your health and guide you towards local resources and options that suit you.
✔️ Exercise Sampling Focused on Having Fun & Consistency
Try out the City of Marina’s brand new Wellness Program for free throughout the week including classes like: Circuit Training, Beginners Yoga, Sub30Core, Baby & Me Training, Zumba, and much more!

Monterey Bay Moves Partnered with Blue Zones Project, CSUMB and other health professionals to present a variety of sessions that will help you start the year off on the right foot
All Sessions will be offered in-person at Vince DiMaggio Park Building, Marina Community Center and Marina Library

Monday, January 15
8:30AM – Circuit Training
Vince Dimaggio Park
Get a total body workout using a circuit for improved cardiovascular and muscular strength.
This class is accessible to beginners.
5:00PM – KettleCore Fundamentals
Vince Dimaggio Park
Learn the basics of kettlebells conditioning through fundamental movements.
This class is beginner-friendly
5:30PM – KettleCore Plus
Vince Dimaggio Park
Develop improved athleticism, strength, and mobility through kettlebell conditioning.Beginner-friendly preparation to run a 5K doing intervals along with strength and flexibility.
This class is intermediate level
6:15PM – Couch to 5K
Marina Equestrian Center (Corner of 9th Street a& California Dr.)
Beginner-friendly preparation to run a 5K doing intervals along with strength and flexibility.

Tuesday, January 16
9:30 – Fitness after Baby – Tips to Get Moving and Find Yourself Again
So you had a baby… now what? You’ve been hearing you need to get back to moving and stay active, but you’re not sure what that looks like for you. In this quick session you will learn why and how to exercise postpartum as well as practice an express routine you can do with your little one in the early postpartum months.
This class is baby friendly
10:30AM – Baby & Me Training
Get a baby-friendly total body workout for improved core control and muscular strength.
This is a beginner-friendly and baby/toddler friendly class. Bring an extra mat for your little one.
Post-partum mothers must be cleared for exercise by their OB before participating in this class.
5:15PM Strength Express
The quickest way to get your weekly conditioning in with dumbbells and kettlebells, cardio exercise, body weight exercises and stretching.
This is a beginner-friendly class
6:00PM Beginners Yoga
An introduction to Yoga’s philosophy, postures and breathing techniques accessible to beginners looking to develop into a regular practice.
This is a beginner-friendly class

Wednesday, January 17
5:15 Yoga Flow
Vince DiMaggio Park
Fast-Paced warming Vinyasa Flow utilizing the power of breath and igniting the spirit. Find a deeper connection between your mind and body.
This class is beginner-friendly

5:15 Sub30 Core

Sub30 Core is a bodyweight only core program that is both intense and well balanced to challenge all your core muscles.
This is a high beginner to intermediate level class
6:00PM – Zumba

Move between high- and low-intensity dance moves designed to get your heart rate up and boost cardio endurance.
This is a beginner-friendly class

Mobility training and flexibility enhancing class.

5:30PM – Healthy Protein Treats for Sustained Energy – Baking Demo
Vince DiMaggio Park
In this 60 minute demo coach Gillian will explain the importance of protein and balancing your blood sugar while making two delicious treats those attending can sample.
Everyone will also have the opportunity to sign up to have recipes emailed to them after class!

Saturday, January 20
10:30AM – Zumbini Kids
Marina Community Center – Hillcrest Street
Movement, play and music for 0-4 year old and their caregivers
Please bring a yoga mat for your little one(s) and a cushion for you to sit on.
Class starts promptly at 10:30 – make sure to arrive 15 minutes in advance to set up, settle in and make sure your babies have everything they need.
The playground next to the community center is a great option to take the bigger kids during the Zumbini class if you are accompanied by another family member.
11:30AM – Exercise IS Medicine: Insights on How and Why Exercise Works
Marina Library – Outdoors – MLK Sculpture
Most know that “exercise is good for you,” but why?
What specifically can exercise help prevent and manage?
How much do you need?
This informative session will review current research on the hows and whys behind moving more.
This is an outdoor event – chairs will be provided
