The biggest misconception about yoga is that you have to be able to fold into a pretzel before you can roll out your mat.
At Monterey Bay Moves, we believe that yoga is for everyBODY. We teach to your real body and the heart that lives in it.
In our 55-minute yoga class offerings, we provide the space you need to practice yoga postures (asana) and breath work (pranayama) that works to increase your physical, emotional and mental flexibility. We hope you leave every class feeling more connected to yourself and your breathe. The yoga classes offered through Monterey Bay Moves are All Levels, offering modifications and advancements for all practitioners.

Yoga Flow
In this all-levels flow expect to find strength and fluidity through a strong, breath-driven flow. If you are looking for more: focus, alignment, stamina, and/or flexibility – this is the class for you. Normally, classes feature an upbeat soundtrack, challenging sequences (with provided modifications), heartfelt messages, and a sense of humor to inspire us as we move off of our mat and into the world.


Restorative Yoga Flow
This all-levels flow is very similar to the Yoga Flow. The only difference is we will use more supportive props for a Restorative yoga posture at the end of class for 5-8 minutes before the final resting pose to really stretch the body’s fascia.
Yoga Sculpt
Yoga Sculpt is a high-intensity, dynamic yoga practice that incorporates resistance interval training and cardiovascular exercise into traditional yoga sequences. For optimal results, make sure you have small weights (1,2,3 lbs) and a loop band for this class.


Power Yoga
A Power Yoga experience: You will begin class with a meditation and a few gentle warm-up stretches and then quickly dive into some more dynamic, challenging moves – where classic asanas will be held or repeated to get the juices flowing!
WHAT TO EXPECT AT YOUR FIRST CLASS:
Get to know the community. The Monterey Bay Moves community welcomes you! So feel free to introduce yourself to the students around you, and ask them any questions.
Talk to your teacher. Please be sure to introduce yourself to your teacher and tell them if you are new to yoga. They will want to know about any injuries, limitations, and/or pregnancies.
Know how class works. MBM offers props (blocks, straps and blankets) on-site to assist in your yoga practice. Class begins with a brief period of seated centering, then warm-up movements, and most build steadily to a peak pose or flow. Cooling down poses are followed by a reclining rest (savasana).
Honor your body. Always feel free to rest during practice; your teacher will never force or push you to stay in poses. You will build strength and endurance over time. Enjoy your practice, and always let us know how we can make your yoga experience more enjoyable!
