How can we help you?
Where is Monterey Bay Moves located?
Monterey Bay Moves is a mobile fitness service. We offer One-on-one Personal Training and Small Group Training in Marina and the greater Monterey Bay Peninsula. We come to your office, home or neighborhood park and bring the workout to you when you need, where you need it.
Our outdoor group classes are currently held at local parks: Windy Hill Park, Glorya Jean Tate Park, Lincoln Park and the Plaza in front of the Century Cinema in Marina – See Schedule
Do I need to be fit to start training with you?
The short answer is NO! Think about it this way – you wouldn’t get a trim BEFORE going to the hairdresser, and you certainly don’t need to be fit BEFORE starting group fitness. If you are just beginning your fitness journey, may I suggest you try our Core & Balance, Full Body Fit, Run/Walk or Gentle Yoga classes – these are low-impact and great for all physical considerations. But if those times don’t work for you, don’t worry – everything can be modified to suit your needs in all our other sessions.

What do I need to bring to my first session?
Just yourself, a water bottle and a mat if you have one! Wear comfy, weather-appropriate clothes and running or cross trainer shoes. I supply all the equipment for sessions. You will be asked to fill out a health form at your first session.
Do I have to attend the same class each week?
No! That is why our participants love the flexibility of being able to choose from ANY of the sessions each week to attend, with our inexpensive Monterey Bay Tribe Unlimited option. If you choose the Monterey Bay Fun or Monterey Bay Fit (1-2x/week) packages, we ask that you come to the same class each week. If you need to miss one or two weeks for any reason, you can make up for your class at any time – just make the modification in your online calendar www.montereybaymoves.ptminder.com
What happens in extreme weather?
With the exception of a few classes held at Spector Dance, all our sessions are held outdoors – so be prepared for this! The following exceptions will be made:
- Rain – sessions will not be cancelled for rain.
- Lightning – most likely, the session will be cancelled or rescheduled (notified via our Facebook page and PTMinder booking site).
- Cold – sessions will not be cancelled for cold temperatures. Ask your trainer for appropriate layers and clothing (especially for winter).
- Heat – sessions will be cancelled or rescheduled if possible if the temperature exceeds 98 degrees during the session.
Can I bring my child with me?
Yes! Children are most definitely welcome – nothing is more impeding to parents’ health in our community than having to find a babysitter to get a good workout in. We just ask that your children remain your responsibility at all times. Give us a call to see how we can help you make time for your health while caring for your little one : 831-840-1589.
How much does a personal trainer cost?
Prices vary between $86-$150/hour depending on the package and number of sessions. Our plans are paid monthly for a minimum commitment of 3 months.
We only offer plans that work – in order to see significant changes in your body composition, shape and health, 12 weeks is considered a good timeline.
What is your refund policy?
One-on-One Personal Training sessions are non-transferable, non-refundable and non-negotiable after the initial assessment and contract signature.
Group Classes are non-transferable. If you sign up and don’t absolutely love our classes after 2 classes, we will work refund your unused class pass.
What happens if I get injured or sick?
One-on-One Personal Training: If you find yourself not being able to exercise for health reasons, we will put your contract on hold without penalty when provided with a doctor’s note. Sessions may be resumed up until one year of initial contract signature. Your trainer – or any available Monterey Bay Moves Trainer- will pick up where you left of as soon as you recover/heal.
I can't start exercising until later in the semester/ I am going away for a month during the semester, can I still sign up?
Absolutely! Send us an email and we will craft a custom package for you that takes into account how many weeks you will attend.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule my personal trainer?
You must notify the trainer of any schedule changes at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled appointment. You can access your bookings using the SIGN UP tab in the menu. If for any reason you need to cancel after the 24-hour deadline, the absence is considered unexcused and the session will not be rescheduled. Make sure you schedule ahead of time and email us if you have any serious problems.
Do I need to purchase equipment before schedule my assessment?
No. You may schedule an assessment or a training without any equipment. Our trainers will work with your home or office setup and bring the necessary equipment each time. They may suggest you purchase light equipment to allow you to continue your program outside of your meetings.
How many weeks of training does it take to see results?
Good question! That depends greatly on your time commitment and efforts. Most of our clients start seeing a difference in their waistline, how their clothes feel, and energy levels within a month of consistent work. Normally, it takes 10-12 weeks for our clients to reach their goals, but again, results can vary. Because life happens (parties, vacation, time-crunch at work, childcare, family emergencies, etc.), we are strict about working with you for a minimum of two to three months. During that period, we’re confident we’ll be able to give you the guidance, knowledge and killer workout you need to adopt and sustain a healthy lifestyle.
What certifications do your trainers have?
All of our coaches have a recognized certification or diploma in the field of fitness. In addition, they have a CPR certificate that must be renewed every 2 years to ensure the safety of our participants. They have also successfully completed the required Monterey Bay Moves training. In addition, each instructor is regularly supervised and follows continuing education training to ensure quality of services.
