Elkhorn Slough March Community Hike
March 29, 2020 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am
Free
Join our Monterey Bay Moves tribe for a mellow walk at Elkhorn Slough in Moss Landing
Join us on March 29th for an easy peaceful hike around Elkhorn Slough on the South Marsh Loop Trail.
This will be an easy 3 mile walk along the slough where we will see various species of birds and possibly some seals, sea otters, deer, and rabbits. We will stop for a guided meditation on Hummingbird Island about 1/2 through the hike. Entry fee is $5/car, so we can arrange carpooling if anyone would like, but there is plenty of parking too! There are other trails if anyone wants to continue exploring afterwards!
Elkhorn Slough
The Elkhorn Slough National Estuarine Research Reserve is 1700 acres and located at the east end of the Slough, inland from Moss Landing. It is one of many access points to the Slough, but is a great first stop when planning your visit.
Co-led by Coach Elizabeth and outdoors explorer and avid hiker Josie Mason Sova, this hike/walk will take 2 hours.
Along the way, we will take short breaks to watch the surrounding nature and sit down for a short mindfulness meditation practice at Hummingbird Island.
