Andrew Molera Park Community Hike
August 9, 2020 @ 7:45 am - 1:00 pm
FreeJoin our Monterey Bay Moves family for a hike at Andrew Molera Park
Join us on August 9th for a mild/moderate loop around Andrew Molera Park.
The Beach, Bluffs, Ridge, and Creamery Meadows trails combine for an 8.2 mile moderate loop. This trail offers one of the only publicly accessible beaches along the Big Sur coast. We will begin by crossing the Big Sur River. There is a seasonal footbridge in place.
The Beach Trail leads to a vast purple and gold sand beach where we can explore the coastline and watch surfers catching a wave. We will then begin climbing up to the ridge line where we will traverse through a meadow and redwood and oak tree forest. When we reach the crest we will enjoy panoramic views of the beach below.
There is a flat, grassy meadow where we can enjoy a snack and rest before heading back down the Bluff trail where we will skirt the edge of a Bluff overlooking the ocean. Expect unparalleled coastal views, a variety of flora, seasonal wildflowers, and a chance to dip your toes in the water and experience the purple sand that is unique to this region of coastline.
This trail will take around 4.5-5 hours
Bring plenty of water, snacks and a picnic to enjoy on the beach.
